Today I had one of those Days .
So i decided to visit with my Boy and take the Dogs for a walk along the lake behind the graveyard.
His and eventually my final resting place:
I miss the graveyards in Germany, they are like parks with benches, fountains and small chapels.
I use to accompany my Grandmother on Sundays or Holidays and help her water flowers and do some cleaning up around the family graves. It was never a sad place for me, just peaceful and quiet....i still feel that way. So visiting with my Son is not a bad thing, just him and I, the trees and the raven that often lets me know he is watching me from the perch of his favorite tree.
We are going through a heatwave so i thought letting the dogs run along the Lake be a treat for them
the forest path to the lake
unfortunately some people use the woods as their personal dumping ground
French Lake
Teddy trotting along
Kole getting a drink
Unfortunately the dogs also found some fish carcasses on the beach which Bunny and Kole think it is just wonderful to roll in , so i spend my time trying to get a stern "NO" in before they throw themselves on the rotten fish with abandon. Lets just say i did not succeed all the time and two dogs needed a bath when we got home. Thank goodness i could drive home with the windows rolled down.
After all this i feel a little less sad and the dogs are pooped.
Now if it would only get a little cooler i be even happier, but then again before we know it it will be
-20 C and then we'll be complaining about the cold.

Sounds like you had a good day after all, or rather not all bad.
And yes, I do also remember the graveyards in Germany as being peaceful places and I also went with my Grandmother to clean up around my Grandfather's grave. It was never a spooky or cold place. Rather a quiet and shady one and I particularly loved to sit by the well/fountain thing they had.
Hope your dogs are now all nice and clean-smelling again! :)
Oh sweetie, I know what these days are like, so glad you took the dogs out and enjoyed the sunshine.
Sun is something we here in Alberta have not seen very much of but I did hear it was nice down home. Hope you have a better rest of the day....:-) Hugs
I don't think your hot weather will last too long -- I hear that Earl is on his way to visit your part of the country. Batten down your hatches!
It's true, the graveyards in Europe are pleasant places to go to and do not at all make you feel miserable. I live very close to one and walk by it often and always have a look. It's a friendly place.
It's nice that you got to visit with your son and I hope the dogs smell good again. Great that you get to walk by a lake, but not so great about those dead fish.
What a lovely lake! Reminds me of the lake I used to go to when I was a kid. Your dogs sure did have some fun. It's been a dreadful summer so I shouldn't be surprised that we are still up in the 90's on the first of September. Let's hope the weatherman is right and it doesn't last too long.

In Beverly & Salem, MA I often went with my mom to her parent's and grandparents graves and one has a lovely fountain.
When hubby was in better health we would stop at old cemetaries and walk through them wondering of the people that once lived.
Often I carried clippers & the like and would clean around ground stones that the grass was taking over. Knew not of those buried there, but saw the need.
Still do it on occasion when I go to where we buried my parents and hubby's brother.
That is where we will be someday too.
If I notice flowers over on their side or other things that need taken care of around the area I can't help myself but to right things.
Peace be with you Gabi.
Patrick wants you to be happy.
In too love old graveyards and feel we should party in them. Here we have cemetery masses and the dead are kind of called upon but in a lovely way. Everyone goes in and cleans up in preparation for this. A lovely custom.
My dog loves to roll in dead carcasses too, what is that about I wonder?
Lovely pics.

sounds like a great time was had by the dogs..beautiful country.
What a beautiful lake the dogs got to play in. I'm glad you got to visit and hope that it helped you to feel a little better. I've never been to Europe, but all your description make me want to visit.
